Overview of the most important ferry routes to Heligoland
Heligoland can be reached from various ports on the German North Sea coast - both from the mainland and from some North Sea islands.
From Cuxhaven, the Cassen Eils shipping company operates the modern seaside resort ship MS "Helgoland" to the island of Helgoland all year round. The crossing takes about 2.5 hours. Departure is usually at 10:30 am, the return journey at 4:00 pm.
In addition, the shipping company FRS Helgoline offers a fast connection with the catamaran "Halunder Jet" from the end of March to the beginning of November, which reaches Heligoland in approx. 75 minutes. The departure time is usually between 11:15 and 11:30 a.m., with the return journey in the afternoon. Cassen Eils also operates its own catamaran seasonally, which makes the journey in around 75 minutes.
FRS Helgoline offers a daily connection with the catamaran "Halunder Jet" from the St. Pauli Landungsbrücken (bridge 3/4) to Helgoland from the end of March to the beginning of November. Departure is usually at 9:00 a.m., with intermediate stops in Cuxhaven and sometimes in Brunsbüttel. Arrival on Helgoland is scheduled for around 12:30 to 12:45, with the return journey taking place at around 16:30 or 17:00.
From Büsum, the Adler & Eils shipping company offers daily trips on the seaside resort ship MS "Funny Girl" in the high season from April 12 to October 26. Departure is at 9:30 a.m., the crossing takes approx. 2.5 hours. The return journey is at 16:00 (on Mondays at 17:00).
In addition, a catamaran (e.g. "Nordlicht" or "Nordlicht II") is used in the high season between the end of June and mid-September, which covers the route in approx. 1.5 hours.
The shipping company Cassen Eils offers several weekly connections with the seaside resort ship MS "Fair Lady" from Bremerhaven (Seebäderkaje) to Heligoland during the season from April 11 to October 31. The journey takes approx. 3 hours. Departure is usually at 9:30 am, the return journey at 4:00 pm.
From Dagebüll, Adler-Schiffe offers a combined connection with MS "Adler Rüm Hart" (feeder) and the catamaran "Adler Cat" several times a week from April 2 to October 30. Departure is at 9:30 a.m. from Dagebüll. After changing at Amrum, the catamaran continues to Helgoland, arriving at approx. 12:30 pm. The return journey departs from Helgoland at 16:15, arriving in Dagebüll at approx. 18:55.
From Wilhelmshaven or Hooksiel, the MS "Fair Lady" of the Adler & Eils shipping company sails to Helgoland several times a week during the season from April 7 to October 29. Departures alternate between Wilhelmshaven (approx. 9:15 am) and Hooksiel (approx. 9:30 am), with the return journey from Heligoland at 4:00 pm. Catamarans such as the "Adler Cat" are also sometimes used.
The Adler-Schiffe shipping company operates a connection with the catamaran "Adler Cat" from Hörnum (Sylt) via Amrum (Wittdün) and partly Föhr to Helgoland several times a week from April to October. Departure is in the morning, arrival on Heligoland around midday. The return trip takes place in the late afternoon, with a stay of approx. four hours on the island.
